Dev Diary: Vol. 5
Thank you for playing Bleach: Brave Souls!
This is the fifth volume of our dev diaries.
2022
In March of 2022, we released Bleach: Brave Souls on the PlayStation®4, bringing a new way for players to enjoy the world of BLEACH.
With the SAFWY collaboration we introduced new characters such as Kenpachi Azashiro and Kenpachi Kuruyashiki, as well as many new versions of existing characters such as Kenpachi Zaraki and Yoruichi.
In July, we celebrated Brave Souls’ 7th anniversary and released 7th Anniversary versions of Ichigo and Uryu.
In October, the broadcast of the BLEACH TV Animation Series: Thousand-Year Blood War began. Alongside this, we released three characters with in-game color schemes to match the design from the TV series..
We hope we have delivered a chance to further enjoy the world of BLEACH with the release of the new anime.
We saw a great many new and returning players and were delighted to have provided an opportunity for lovers of BLEACH to get together.
2023
We have started work on the designs for new SAFWY collaboration characters under the supervision of Tite Kubo and will have more information to share about original Bleach: Brave Souls character designs at a later date.
We also have a new collaboration with Burn the Witch planned for 2023.
Throughout 2022, we implemented gameplay improvements recommended to us by players, and we intend to continue doing so throughout 2023.
We’re working towards a game that reduces the stress on players and makes characters even more fun to play with. We’ll have more information about characters to share at a later date.
Updates
Implemented Updates
We received a lot of player feedback and we were able to implement the following.
Sets for Co-Op Quests
We reduced the effort to set up a team for Co-Op Quests by adding sets that allow players to save the same character, Accessories, and Character Links in several different sets. We also added a feature to allow players to load the last set they cleared the quest with.
Reduced Wait Times When Clearing Co-Op Quests and Epic Raids
We reduced the time spent waiting between clearing a Co-Op Quest or Epic Raid and starting another in order to make the process of repeating quests a smoother one.
Planned Updates
We are currently considering the implementation of the changes below to make a more user-friendly environment where players can easily enjoy the game together.
Returning from Notices
This change would allow players to return to the previous screen after viewing a Notice.
Skip Clear Animations
In Guild Quests and Senkaimon Quests, this change would allow players to tap the screen and skip the animations and information displays shown when clearing a quest.
Held Characters Displayed in Packs and Summons
This change will make it easier for players to understand which characters in a Summons or Character Pack they already own.
Game Content Guidance
We have received feedback that it can be hard to know where to begin with all the available in-game content. We’re currently considering what kind of changes, such as quest improvements, could help reduce this concern.
Anti-Misconduct Measures
In 2023, we plan to further strengthen our policies regarding in-game misconduct.
The Future of Brave Souls
It has been announced that the BLEACH TV Animation Series: Thousand-Year Blood War will be shown in its entirety by being separated into four parts. Here on the Brave Souls team, we intend to do our best to bring more excitement to the world of BLEACH!
We’ll continue to share the latest information about BLEACH, and we hope that Brave Souls remains a place for the BLEACH-lovers of the world to gather.
We’ll be working hard to provide a game that can be enjoyed by everyone around the world, and we hope you all continue to play!
